The first thing we need to discuss is what is a delinquency in regard to credit reporting? Each year there are thousands of people that think that if they are a few days late on a payment that it will be reported to the credit bureaus as being late. Only payments that are 30 or more days delinquent can be reported to the credit bureaus as being late.
Since delinquencies make up 35% of a person’s credit score, it is important to not get over 30 days delinquent on their payments. Now here is something that many people do not realize when it comes to having delinquent payments. Every year there are thousands of people that think that they have horrible credit because during the year they have had one 30 day late on their credit files in a year for a few creditors.
Although they may have had one bad payment history out of the year, they think that their credit is all messed up. Here is one thing that they can do that 95% of the people in this situation would not think of doing. Most creditors such as auto financers, mortgage companies and credit card companies will give people a onetime courtesy deletion of a 30 day late payment if they have had only one late payment in at least a year. If they are able to get all of their accounts updated to reflect paid as agreed, their credit score can go up considerably.

Don’t be like thousands of people each year that either hope they have excellent credit scores or for whatever reason are afraid to check their credit reports. Since having good credit can affect so many possible areas of your life, you want to be sure you have the best credit possible.
